My experience at ESA overall has been good. It is definitely a more tight-knit community than most schools have, but as you get older, you feel like you become more connected with your class. The classes themselves are personal and offer rigorous curriculums that will prepare you very well for college. I attended ESA for several years and have enjoyed it, and I would recommend it to others in the Acadiana area.

Best school for academics and college prep. Highly qualified teachers and a long history of Alumni who are still involved with the school. Both campuses are beautiful and unique.

I am a parent and an alum. I have seen and experienced ESA consistently perform at the highest level of intellectual, social, and moral growth above any other school in the state since its inception. ESA's college placements are the highest in the state; ESA students are offered more in college scholarship money per student than any other school in the state. ESA graduates are well-prepared for the rigors of college; they are encouraged to independently manage their time, studies, and other activities, just like a college student. Open communication between students and teachers enhances the ESA educational experience. Students are challenged through numerous methods of instruction to enable them to fully grasp concepts and solidly gain knowledge. The culture at ESA is relaxed and diverse; students are encouraged to try new sports or activities, as there are no tryouts. Students leave ESA with a sense of independence and the ability to challenge themselves to their full potential.

Pretty nice school. Went here for several years and overall was an excellent experience that prepared me very well academically for college. However, there is a distinct problem with diversity. You could count the amount of people who weren’t caucasian/Hispanic in many graduating classes.

ESA offers top-tier instruction, a result of its practically unparalleled faculty. Teachers at ESA are extremely passionate about what they teach and will go out of their way to ensure that you understand the material, as well as the “why.”

ESA affords an excellent community as well, with many opportunities to grow athletically, socially, and spiritually. The PE coaches are devoted to what they do and mentor some amazing teams. The school’s financial aid and commitment to diversity of thought is a plus as well. Community events like field day, music performances, and chapels foster a strong sense of being. The music/art departments are good too.

So, ESA provides all students the chance to learn with an in-depth and expansive curriculum, especially given the school’s size. Classes in some advanced subjects can have 3-8 students, providing an personal educational experience.

Incompetent administration. There was a math teacher in the previous year that felt it wasn't important to teach math at all. I have no idea how she went an entire year despite the parents voicing their concerns endlessly. Now kids are perpetually behind. Instead of firing the teacher the administration just moved her elsewhere.

Things seem to be better this year. My kids love their 3rd and 4th grade teachers . Everything else about this school is mostly wonderful even during a pandemic.

Teachers and facilities are fantastic at the lower school. Administration not so much. Everyone else lacks a backbone. Prior to enrollment we were told this is not a school for academically or behaviorally deficient children. Kids are pushed to the next grade regardless of their academic ability despite objections from the teachers. Sometimes homework is assigned each day and sometimes there's nothing for weeks. I learned that this is due to some parents wanting homework and some not wanting homework. Administration will instruct the teacher to either assign homework or not depending on which parent was louder.

Some kids have severe behavioral issues including stealing, flipping desks and yelling in class. Why these kids remain in school is beyond me. There are no repercussions.

It’s great sports are underrated. ESA is the best school in Louisiana you have to go it’s so fun and a lot of freedom not strict unlike fatima Fatima is very strict and not good no freedom

highly overrated especially for elementary school. My kids were not challenged enough. Also, very prejudiced and do not foster diversity as far as administrative and admissions process.

At the Episcopal School of Acadiana, students are encouraged at every step to be the best version of themselves they can be. No matter if they are an athlete, honors student, theatre kid or academic support student, the faculty at ESA teaches their student to be responsible for their own academics and willing to try something new.

I've attended the Episcopal School of Acadiana for 15 years, and it has been an incredible experience. The teachers are always there if you need help, the students are kind and trustworthy, the school's honor code is constantly upheld, and the education is amazing. The academics are very rigorous, and can sometimes cause a lot fo stress on students. We do have a counselor to talk to if need be though. Overall, this school has been an amazing experience, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Many of these reviews are blaming the school for depression and social awkwardness. I agree that the workload can be stressful but when I think "I wish I had a gun so that I could shoot myself in the brain and not have to deal with anything anymore" I don't blame the school. Your teachers are there to teach you about math not how to live. Blame your parents and if you're a parent then just admit that you dropped the ball on this one. In regards to talk that the honor code encourages kids to judge each other, that's going to happen no matter what. There's really no need to worry about your child being judged for unsavory activities anyways, drugs and vaping is rampant. If you enroll your child then do beware that the school will try to milk you dry, but don't worry, it's so they can renovate the school. They've been saying that for years now and there raising tuition so if they don't get there goal in the next five years then I think it's fair to assume there skimming off the top.

I have been reading these bad reviews on this website and they are so wrong. Yes ESA is academically strenuous but it is worth it. The reason that ESA has such a difficult curriculum is so that we can be prepared for college. ESA does cost a lot of money but they have financial aid programs. Not to mention that as a student who has been here for all my life I cannot imagine going anywhere else. My parents have talked about public school before and the thought of having to leave ESA brings me to tears. Almost nowhere else can you find a place like ESA. It is not just the academics that bring people here it is the environment. Teachers such as Garret Rosen and Ashley Dugas, Kat Movassaghi and Claire Alvarado. along with countless others. They genuinely care about students' performance and have shaped me into the person that I am today. This is true for countless others. The students here are more equipped for college and the real world.

Don’t get me wrong I like my school, however, it is one of the most infuriating places I’ve been forced to be in. ESA is known for their academics but that comes at the very high price of extreme stress, depression, anxiety and very poor social skills. Not to mention the class rooms are literally falling apart by the second. The administration does a very good job of acting like they are trying to help when they aren’t.

My sons both graduated after attending middle school and high school at ESA and were accepted into top engineering colleges. They still thank us for the great education, with caring teachers and coaches they had. The older one told his brother “learn all you can in high school, professors in college will not care if you understand the material like they do a ESA”.

As a former student the Episcopal School of Acadiana set me up to achieve the most that I can in my post high school life. School life was never dreadful because of the connections students and teachers had in the classrooms. Not only did your teachers care about you but they want to see you succeed.
